TNT Logistics North America opened a 340,000 square-foot logistics center dedicated to Ford Motor's new Brownstown, Mich., vehicle assembly plant. The "material sequencing center" offers sequencing and inventory control as well as parts, container and transportation management.

The MSC will handle more than 1,700 part numbers. Parts will be sequenced into specially designed racks for delivery to the truck manufacturing facility in correct build order. When the plant reaches full production it will receive more than 8,500 containers each day from the TNT Logistics facility.

"We have become integral to the supply chain for a significant percentage of the parts for the new plant," said Bill Sheeran, general manager of automotive logistics at TNT Logistics North America. "Our facility is essentially a seamless extension of the Ford Dearborn truck facility."
